Are you looking for more positive reviews of your business but feeling unsure where to begin or awkward/overwhelmed with the idea of asking for them? Getting reviews is easier than you think, but here’s the key: You have to START. Remember most online businesses with lots of reviews started out asking for them. It’s a valid review, even if you prompted it!

Here are some simple ways to ask your customers for feedback:

🙋‍♀️Simply ask! When your customers are happy with your product or service, ask them to leave a review on your website or socials, or better yet, create some UGC (User Generated Content) for you (photos, videos are great!).

📧Follow up all purchases with an email, which you can always automate to make life easier. After your customer has bought a product or service from you, get out a friendly email thanking them for their business and asking for their feedback. Be sure to include a direct link to your review page to make it easy for them to leave a review. Unsure which platform or directory to use? Start out building your reviews where customers are most likely to see them, which varies depending on your business. The key here is making it QUICK and EASY for your customers to help and taking advantage while you’re top of mind.

🤳Create a fun and engaging social media post asking your followers to share their experiences with your business. You can create a competition or offer an incentive to sweeten the deal! Encourage them to leave a review on your page or tag you in their post.

👩‍💻Once collected, you can also use reviews manually by including them across your ecosystem - like on social media, your website, or other marketing assets like emails or paid ads.

Good reviews not only help attract new customers but also build trust and credibility with your existing ones. You owe it to your customers, your business, and yourself to ask for them. Remember, your hard work and dedication deserve recognition, and positive reviews are a great way to showcase that. Go ahead, take the leap, and make asking for reviews part of your process. You might be surprised at the impact they can have on your business!

Never been asked my professional #marketing opinion on anything as much as #chatgpt
Something I hear a lot from small business owners: We think we’re going to do our own marketing. We’re savvy on social media and we don’t really have room for that in the budget.

If you’re a business owner with a TON of time to devote to consistent marketing efforts, you’ll likely have some success. Something is always better than nothing, but what I usually tell people is this:

Doing all your own marketing is a lot like cutting your own bangs. Can you? Definitely. Should you? Probably not.

It may help to ask yourself: Why do people come to you for your product or service instead of making it or doing it themselves? Why do people go to professionals like you for [insert any business concept here]?

Often they’ll tell me their customers don’t do it as well, with as much expertise, or don’t have the time. Perhaps the business offers a unique/niche product or service at a high skill level. Sometimes the customers don’t want to make the goods themselves, don’t know how or don’t have the skill, or can’t source the materials for the items being sold. Sometimes they just want the convenience and benefits of service. In summary, they are a professional. Their customers are not.

Read: My hairstylist is a professional. I am not. Someone please take away the scissors. ✂️😬

The above also applies to marketing and your digital presence. Particularly in the small business space, the accessibility of some digital platforms makes marketing for a business feel like an exception. Knowing how to post on facebook or conduct a quick Google search doesn’t necessarily mean you can devote hundreds of hours toward learning to set up, track, and perfectly optimize strategic and professionally designed campaigns on those platforms.

Business owners choose an agency or professional because of the years spent learning to return on investment efficiently and strategically. A marketing pro will lift the time-and-skill burden off of their clients’ shoulders and get measurably better results. They’ve often worked with hundreds of businesses, and know how to achieve goals in the most efficient and effective way possible for your business.
🤯🤯🤯

This is the most important question to ask in a kickoff marketing meeting, and you’re probably not asking it… I know I wasn’t!

The start of the client/agency relationship is the absolute best time to get on the same page as far as expectations on both sides and set the stage for mutual success in any marketing campaign or strategy.

Do you ask this? If not, add it to your kickoffs and let me know if it helps!

Here are some starter questions to get to the root of your business’s value proposition:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤔 How do you make your customer’s life easier?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤔 How does your product or service make them feel?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤔 How does your product or service address a pain point or need?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤔 What do your best customers tell you is the best thing about what you do?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤔 Which selling points drive the most sales?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤔 What are some of your biggest success stories and quick wins?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤔 What makes you stand out from competitors?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤔 What makes you qualified?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤔 What would a customer have to feel to want to refer you to someone else?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Once your value proposition is distilled, consider it in every marketing piece you create to create a lasting impact in your audience and encourage your audience to convert through the funnel into buyers of your products or services.
Most business owners I talk to know of the term SEO, and know they need it, but haven’t gotten around to learning much else. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So what exactly is SEO? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And why do you need it?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
SEO essentially means doing things that will get your website found more easily and more often by your target searchers in search engines like #Google (or Bing, DuckDuckGo etc.) Being found more easily means more traffic > leads > sales/customers.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
SEO is kind of like a complicated recipe that takes a lot of different ingredients and healthy doses of patience and precision to perfect, meanwhile the oven is always changing temperatures and everyone is shouting “I’M HUNGRY!” as you measure everything out and wait hours for it to be finished. This is probably why most of the highest converting businesses just leave it to the pros 👩‍🍳🤌.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
BUT, a wise chef once said: “Your only limit is your soul. What I say is true—anyone can cook ... but only the fearless can be great.” –Chef Gusteau, #Ratatouille 🐀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
With that sage wisdom in mind, here are 5 of my quickest and easiest tips (there are tons) that can help ANYONE fearlessly boost SEO, with or without the zest of a skilled marketing pro:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. Make sure your site is indexed properly and submit your site map to Google⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. Brainstorm what your target audience wants to know, then create content that matches search intent, including any keywords they may be using⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3. Avoid any SEO trickery/ bamboozling 🧙‍♂️. This includes trying to fool search engines with complex backlink schemes, hidden text and links…basically if it feels too good to be true, it likely is, and don’t do it⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4. Create clear and relevant page titles, URLs, and meta descriptions ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
5. Avoid duplicate content and keyword stuffing⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

One of my most common recommendations for within a marketing roadmap is a strategy I like to call “Boots on the Ground.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In a #digital world, it can be easy, perhaps even enticing, to focus almost all of our attention on digital-only marketing strategies from the comfort of an ergonomic office chair. Especially because they can work so well (Here’s looking at all of my #introverted kings and queens). But this leaves a ton of opportunity untapped.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Boots on the Ground is just another way of saying: do the things that require you to actually get your butt up out of your chair, get in front of people, get your boots dirty, and have you showing up in the outside world in a physical way. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Boots on the ground could mean participating in industry events, networking events, continuing education events, speaking as an expert, getting involved publicly at volunteer events or sales conferences, donating your product for use at a well publicized event, participating in a panel, mentoring, selling physical products at fairs and markets, attending award events, sponsoring local events, attending meetups of business owners or other groups… It could even mean leaving a stack of cards or a product display at a partnered business, doing contests and giveaways in public, sampling items out, and so much more.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Where you go and what you do will vary heavily depending on your goals, business, products and services and target audience. Consider conducting a focused brainstorming session on how you can get your boots on the ground and start showing up to represent your #brand.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In the words of the great Nancy Sinatra: “Are you ready, boots? Start walkin!” 🥾 🥾 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
